Few can match the passionate commitment of Amy Edmunds as the voice of YoungStroke, Inc. Her provocative presentations educate and empower.

Amy Edmunds has been a stroke survivor since 2001. Frustrated by the lack of literature relevant to her young stroke experience, she enrolled in graduate school and established Young Stroke, Inc. in 2005 as a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization.

In 2010, she joined the faculty of Coastal Carolina University as a Health Communication Lecturer. She earned a Master's Degree from Murray State University where her thesis focused upon communication of social support to young stroke survivors in rural Western Kentucky. Her findings were presented at the National Rural Health Association's 11th Annual Conference in New Orleans in 2005. Her Bachelor's Degree in Public Policy was earned at Davidson College.

Previously, she presented on Capitol Hill on behalf of the National Stroke Association and the American Stroke Association to advocate the needs of young stroke survivors in support of the Stop Stroke Act. In Virginia and Kentucky, she has initiated young stroke support groups. In 2006, her advocacy was recognized by the American Heart Association (AHA) as Virginia's Survivor Advocate of the Year.
